JOHN F. KENNEDY LIBRARY AND MUSEUM

Many people still associate John F. Kennedy with Boston and this is a wonderful
museum in celebration of his life and the world of politics. The aim of the exhibition
is to keep the memory of Kennedy alive and it does so in a well thought-out and
intimate way. A visitor is walked through the various stages of JFK's life, from his
childhood in Boston, through to the 1960 presidential election with a chance to see
footage of the televised debate with Nixon. Step into a theatre to watch his
inauguration as the 35th president of the United States. Particularly poignant is the
walk through a darkened corridor and the recreation of the announcement of the
assassination of the President, and the country's reaction.
What makes this Museum so special is the detail which goes into every aspect of his
life. The museum has unprecedented access to Kennedy documents and artefacts so
that visitors get an inside view into the events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis and
the debate on civil rights. This is further underlined by the temporary exhibitions
which are held such as "Presents for a President and First Lady" featuring 65 state
gifts presented to the couple by world leaders.
The John F. Kennedy Library and Museum contains 25 exhibits, 3 theatres and 20
video presentations and is housed itself in a beautiful building with panoramic views
of Boston. Opens daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Located at Columbia Point, just south of
Downtown Boston.
